Summer 2023

As applicant numbers have unfortunately not reached the levels anticipated, the University of Bordeaux regrets to announce the postponement of the 2022 edition of the "Today’s families" Bordeaux Summer School.

For those who have already applied, please check your email inbox for more information.

Please note that this website will be updated as soon as possible with further details regarding this postponement.

We thank you for your understanding and hope to see you in Bordeaux in 2023.

Throughout this unique summer school, open to doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows and researchers, participants will reflect upon the meaning of family in today’s social environment: its characterization, importance, and associated challenges.

As highlighted by current debates on same-sex marriage, medically assisted procreation, and most recently the increased focus on the household due to the ongoing health crisis (social distancing, teleworking, homeschooling, etc.), family science is a major research subject for the 21st century.

The role played by family in our daily lives is constantly evolving, and as such touches a variety of different disciplines. However, current research often remains too confined to its specific, singular field. By offering an interdisciplinary perspective, course content will allow for exchanges in order to define future research guidelines and enhance international collaboration, thus contributing to innovation on this important subject.
